Getting Ready for District

number1seeds

The Viking Wrestling team has been having a great week of practice and looking to make some noise this weekend!

The heavyweights have been getting a great workout with Coaches Keener & Pamanian, and have been joined by David Walker this week as well. All of these coaches are former college wrestlers, with Coach Pamanian a college All-American from Menlo College and David Walker–formerly one of the top-ranked Greco wrestlers in the world, now training at Boise State preparing for national competition. It’s great to have the expertise of 3 knowledgeable coaches devoting concentrated effort to a group of guys on specific skills.

On the other end of the room, the lightweights are having a fantastic week! Everybody is wrestling tough, healthy and ready to go!

While the fans get caught-up in the seeding and brackets, the Viking wrestlers will be focusing on taking one match at a time and working to wrestle their best in the two day tournament–making their mark in 2010 and moving on to Regionals the following weekend!

In Memory of Ed Aliverti

I met Ed in 1975 as a high school sophomore and am proud to have known this most amazing man.  The “Voice” of Washington Wrestling and wrestling around the world, we are all better for knowing him and being members of–as Ed would say: The World’s Oldest & Greatest Sport!
We will miss you Ed. Thank you.
